What are Rivet Nuts?

Rivets are used anywhere a threaded bolt hole cannot be applied like with a sheet metal applications, but also where a hole was factored in or forgotten.  The nut is mechanically swaged into the hole by a rivet nut gun similar to a Pop® rivet pull through but the anvil of the mandrel pulls all the way through.
